The Italian Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, Gruber Logistics, Codognotto Italia, AdSP del Mar Ligure Orientale, RAM - Rete Autostrade Mediterranee, Mercitalia Logistics join the Board.
The European Commission has updated the composition of its Board for transport digitalization, increasing Italian representation within the Digital Transport and Logistics Forum (DTLF). The renewed and new Italian participants in the DTLF include the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, Gruber Logistics, Codognotto Italia, Autorità di Sistema Portuale del Mar Ligure Orientale, RAM - Rete Autostrade Mediterranee and Mercitalia Logistics.
The DTLF is the Commission's main advisory body for the definition of digitalisation policies in the logistics sector, providing a key platform for future policy directions for the entire sector. It has given rise to critical regulations such as EFTI (Electronic Freight Transport Information), which sets out the rules for the digital exchange of transport data between public authorities, with a future extension also planned to private parties.
Thanks to the Digital Transport and Logistics Forum, groundwork is being laid for the implementation of the eCMR (electronic waybill) and other innovations set to transform the efficiency of logistics in Europe. The Commission is driving these developments to accelerate the transition towards an increasingly digitalised and integrated logistics ecosystem, bringing benefits to all stakeholders.
The group of companies and institutions selected to join the Commission brings forward Italy's role in leading the digitalisation of the European logistics sector, ensuring a strong and proactive voice in shaping the policies and guidelines for the future.
Gruber Logistics and Codognotto Italia are involved in DTLF subgroup 2 (Plug and Play), which is dedicated to developing specific solutions for a harmonized and federated data-sharing system. The aim is to enable all players in the supply chain to connect and exchange information in a seamless and secure way, thus improving public-private cooperation. RAM - Rete Autostrade Mediterranee works to improve the management and connectivity of Italy's motorway, maritime and rail networks, while Mercitalia Logistics works daily to foster a more sustainable and integrated European logistics system, with first and last mile connections. The Autorità di Sistema Portuale del Mar Ligure Orientale brings the perspective of Italian ports, helping to improve integration with European transport networks through the digitalization of services provided to logistics chain operators and port communities.
With this renewal, the DTLF confirms its central role in the digital transformation of European logistics, deploying expertise and resources to tackle the challenges of the future. The strengthened presence of Italian representatives demonstrates Italy’s commitment to making logistics more efficient, connected, and sustainable, contributing to the development of an increasingly competitive European transport system.
